Foods with no calories

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were foods with no calories that we could eat without guilt or watching calories? Well, there is and oddly enough, it has been around for over 2000 years in Asia. Japanese women in particular have been consuming this product to control their weight.

So what is this food with no calories I hear you ask? This miracle food is called Shirataki noodle.

The first time I heard of this product was through a company called miracle noodle. This post was created as a Miracle Noodle Review for the benefit of our readers.

So what are Shirataki noodles?

Shirataki noodles are noodles made from Glucomannan which is a soluble fiber. Miracle noodles;

  • Contains no fat, sugar, or starch.
  • Have no carbohydrates or calories
  • Are wheat & gluten free and kosher.
  • Absorb the flavors of any soup, dish, or sauce.
  • Are ready to eat straight from the packet (just rinse and serve) and are available in a variety of styles
  • Provide beneficial effects for those who suffer Type II Diabetes, Constipation, Obesity, and Cholesterol issues

In appearance, miracle noodles look like rice noodles, transparent and white rather than opaque and off white like most noodles. They don’t have much taste but absorb the flavors of accompanying foods brilliantly. And the best thing is you don’t need much to fill out a meal and satisfy your hunger. Oh, and you don’t need to cook them either, just rinse thoroughly and add to other ingredients. Each bag of miracle noodle contains enough for two servings but since it contains no calories then it certainly won’t harm you to eat more than one serve. Unlike regular noodles/pasta that are loaded with carbohydrates and calories.

Personally, I find them extremely filling. I really love using them those Asian style noodle soups because as I said, they absorb the flavors really well. Here is one of my favorite miracle noodle recipes:

Thinly slice a skinless chicken breast, place in a pot with some chicken stock, garlic, ginger, chili and shallots (spring onions), water chestnuts, bean sprouts and maybe some peas, baby corn and grated carrot. Bring to the boil and let the chicken cook then drop in the miracle noodles and serve. I also like doing this with shrimp/prawn rather than chicken

Take a look at these statistics regarding calorie content of noodles.

1 cup cooked spaghetti – 220 calories
1 cup cooked rice noodles – 192 calories
1 cup cooked egg noodles – 221 calories
1 cup of Miracle noodles – 0 calories

Just imagine, being able to eat foods with no calories that will not leave you feeling guilty. In fact, you won’t even have to think about the impact on your food consumption. Miracle noodles are ideal for those on a weight loss diet because they help satiate hunger without adding extra calories. The reason that fiber does not add any calories is because the body is incapable of digesting fiber. This means that it cannot be converted into energy. In addition, because they are made from soluble fiber they help ensure the correct functioning of the digestive system which also assists with weight loss.

Please note that at this stage, the miracle noodle brand is only locally available in the United States, Canada and Australia though the company is setting up distributors in other countries and all products can be shipped worldwide.
